These are completely mean-spirited acts, not done to someone who even
deserved them. Just out-and-out cruel, for the sake of it. We all know
there's back-stabbing galore on MP, so this is by no means a complete
list...just the first 10 that jumped to mind. Moments that made me say
out loud, "Man, that's cold-blooded, even for Melrose!"
- The Mrs. Molly's Cookies campaign. Not that it was mean to Alison,
but to the poor unsuspecting client whose mother killed herself. Was
that a classic Melrose Moment or what? Brilliant.
- When Chris Marchette first threatened to have Sydney sent back to the
loony bin again, then ended up threatening to have one of Jake's hands
chopped up, or his eye put out, if she didn't sleep with him, because
Syd had, quote, "that slutty quality that Jane lacks in spades."
- Michael getting Sydney to have one of her hooker friends seduce
Jane's divorce lawyer boyfriend, videotaping it, and making sure that
she saw a copy.
- When Kimberly hired thugs to beat up Matt and make it look like
gay-bashing. That was, in my opinion, Kimerly at her downright nastiest.
Then visiting him in the hospital to make sure he knew that she was
responsible--"I told them to break your -arm-" and when Matt protested
that it was a hate crime, smiling and hissing, "Oh, you bet your butt it
was a hate crime, Mister. I hate you, Matt."
- Sydney herself was more greedy and sneaky than evil, in my opinion.
But remember when she made sure Kimberly would come home and see her on
top of Michael, sleeping with him? The look of trampy, smug satisfaction on
her face as she made eye contact with Kimberly just made me want to slap
her myself.
- When Peter was screwing around with Taylor at the marina condo, and
Amanda came around the corner and saw him engaged in foreplay with
Lippy. He sees her, but instead of looking surprised, guilty, or upset,
he didn't bat an eye, just kept looking her right in the eye as he
continued with what he was doing. Seemed like the cold look on his face
hurt Amanda more than the actual cheating did.
- Man, when Michael is mean, his mean streak is a mile wide. No, make
that 2 miles. The scene in which he was the most cold-blooded was when
he very casually had Kimberly served with divorce papers at the hospital
in the middle of a work day, then told her coldly right in front of
everybody watching that he was in love with someone else. He also threw
in telling her she "came back looking like a Night of the Living Dead
reject" and seemed to have no problem with informing her he had been
planning this the whole time they were together. I felt so sorry for
poor Kimberly, weeping hysterically and sliding down the wall into a
heap. Oh, and smiling after he came home and found her dying of a pill
overdose and leaving her there to die without calling 911 was also just
a tad mean, I suppose.
- Syd and Michael visiting Kimberly when she was at her low point in
the loony bin, desperately trying to hold herself together was pretty
sadistic too. They kissed passionately right in front of the poor thing.
- Brooke trying to yank mourning Allison's ring off during the reading
of Hailey's will after his tragic (or not so tragic, depending on how
you look at it) death, in which it was revealed that he had secretly
divorced her and left her nothing. (I still can't figure out why exactly
Hailey went and backstabbed her like that out of the blue--just to make
himself even more of an evil jerk, I guess)
- Richard Hart raping Jane and acting like nothing happened other
than slightly rough sex the next morning. Leaving the graveyard dirt in
her bed to torture her would also qualify. So would making Jane and
Sydney dig their own graves prior to shooting them. But hey, other than
that he seemed like a real nice, likeable guy.
