The LA Daily News reprinted a NY Times article about how shows
like MP have influenced how the country thinks about Los Angeles. It
says most shows about LA depict Angelenos as shallow and superficial. If I
weren't so shallow and superficial, I'd be offended. The LA Times questioned whether shows like MP were too raunchy for the 8 o'clock time slot, traditionally reserved for family shows. But once Fox moved more adult-oriented fare to 8 with hardly any backlash, the flood gates were open and the other networks followed suit. Kristin Davis talked to TV Guide about how her role in Atomic Train was different from her Sex in the City character. She played a mother figure to two teens in Train and is a woman on the prowl in City. Rena Sofer's pilot Oh, Grow Up was picked up for next fall. It's about three friends who live together. Can you say Friends clone? Watch for it on ABC. Wonder what Grant Show, Andrew Shue, Laura Leighton and Marcia Cross have been up to? The Star cues us in on what these and other former cast members are doing. Soap Opera Digest gave the Kyle/Amanda/Peter triangle both a Thumbs Up and a Thumbs Down. That relationship is more like a pentagon because you've got to factor in Eve and Lexi. Charles Pratt, Jr. talked with Soap Opera Update about what's going to happen and what's not going to happen on the finale. What will happen: Terri goes nuts. What will not happen: the return of former cast members. And finally, SOU recounted their six most memorable Melrose moments. Over the airwaves, Alyssa Milano's Hugo Pool airs on Showtime, 5/20, 1:30AM ET/PT. Crash Course airs on TNT, 5/22, 2:00PM ET/PT. Costarring are MP alumni Brian Bloom and Edie McClurg. If you were wondering what happened to E!'s Primetime Farewell last week, it was postponed until this week, 5/21, 9:00PM ET/PT; 5/22, 12:00PM ET/PT; 5/23, 7:00PM ET/PT and 5/24, 12:00PM ET/PT. Courtney Thorne-Smith plays a delinquent high school student in Summer School, TNT, 5/22, 6:00PM ET/PT. Heather Locklear hosts Muppets Tonight, Disney, 5/23, 7:30PM ET/PT. And Daphne Zuniga's Modern Girls airs on The Movie Channel, 5/25, 12:25PM ET/PT.
