Here's some big news I totally forgot about last week. If Melrose is back
for an eighth season, don't expect to see Lexi. Jamie Luner has signed a
deal with the WB for a series of her own. Good luck to her. She'll need it
with the WB.
Also from last week, The National Enquirer gave us a mini tour of Heather Locklear's home. Exec Producer Charles Pratt, Jr. put out a plea in Soap Opera Digest asking for fans' help in saving the show. He's worried that Melrose may not be renewed because incoming Fox Entertainment President Doug Herzog is not a fan of soaps and has never seen the show. Pratt was asking for fans to write to Fox. SOD's cameras caught up with Rena Sofer at Aaron Spelling's holiday party. She was supposed to go with Vanessa Marcil, but ended up going with Jamie Luner and her boyfriend. In case you've been living in a cave the past six months and have been wondering what the heck became of Billy, Craig, Coop, Taylor, Sam and Jennifer, SOD was kind enough to recap everything that has happened. Then Peter and Eve were the subjects of their latest "Romance Report." Needless to say, SOD doesn't think the relationship will last. Finally, the current season was given a "Thumbs Up" by the magazine for getting back to basics. The current Soap Opera Digest gave us some spoilers for the upcoming year. They talked about Michael and Jane's divorce, Amanda and Eve's secret, and a big secret that Ryan is hiding. Then they gave John Haymes Newton the opportunity to spout out more New Age truisms. What a flake! Watch E!'s special, "The King of Primetime: Aaron Spelling." Among the celebs interviewed is Heather Locklear. E!, 12/31, 9:00PM ET/PT; 1/1, 10:00AM ET/PT; 1/2, 3:00PM ET/PT and 1/3, 11:00AM ET/PT. Jack Wagner's "Dirty Little Secret" airs on USA, 1/1, 1:00AM ET/PT. Amy Locane's "End of Summer" is still running, The Movie Channel, 12/29, 10:30PM ET/PT; as is her "Cry-Baby," USA, 12/31, 2:00AM ET/PT. Vanessa Williams is still running from a slasher in "Candyman," Showtime, 12/31, 1:30AM ET/PT. Lisa Rinna can be seen in "Danielle Steel's 'Vanished'" on Lifetime, 12/31, 9:00PM ET/PT. An also on the chick channel is Brooke Langton in "Eye of the Stalker: A 'Moment of Truth' Movie." It co-stars Joanna Cassidy who, coincidentally, would go on to play Brooke's character's mother on Melrose. Lifetime, 1/3, 8:15PM ET/PT.
