This episode starts right where last weeks left off - with Jack holding
Amanda's arm and telling her how she's never going to leave him again.
They say fantasy is healthy - at this rate, Jack should live forever.
Anyway, Amanda breaks free from Jack and, like an idiot, runs upstairs
into the bedroom. Jack obviously planned on this dumb move as we see he
has the nightgown she wore on their wedding night draped across the bed.
As he demands, "make love to me like you did that night", the obligatory
fight scene continues with him pushing her into a lamp, and you wonder
just exactly what they did on their wedding night. Amanda hits Jack across
the back of the legs with the light pole, runs out and, just as you think
she's destined to roll down a flight of stairs, Jack jumps at her, misses,
and leaps over the balcony instead, making sure to destroy the chandelier
on the way down. With Jack lying motionless in a pile of glass, Amanda
calls Peter and asks him to come over, perhaps to say goodbye to Jack
since Antonio Sabato is returning to daytime television.
Peter shows up and confirms that Jack is "not dead yet". When he goes to
dial 911, Amanda fears she will be arrested for faking her death and begs
Peter "no cops". Peter obliges her, calls the hospital and orders an
ambulance. He then orders Amanda to go home and talk to no one until they
can "get their story straight".
Richard and Jo are laughing it up at her place, supposedly to look at yet
more pictures of Richard, when Jake walks in and does the mandatory "dumb
jealous boyfriend" routine before storming out. Richard sees this as his cue
to leave, but not until he kisses Jo's hand and she calls him "Ricardo",
alerting us to the fact that pet names are used only by couples and that we
should keep an eye on these two.
Kimberly is in the happy little kitchen making a happy pot of coffee and
listening to Dr. Joyce Brothers on the oh-so-happy morning Frasier-type radio
show when she sees Henry standing outside the window. She closes her eyes,
does a little Bewitched number, and when she opens her eyes - poof! - he's
gone. Still, this does not stop her from looking outside anyway and,
although she does not find Henry, she does find muddy footprints. She
appears to be happy to confirm that "he's real".
At the hospital, Amanda is reprimanded by Peter for showing up to see if her
soon-to-be-ex is still alive. Amanda tells Peter of her abusive marriage and
why and how she faked her death to get out. Jack's slimeball attorney
(former teacher on the tv show "Fame", for all of you out there as old as
dirt like me) appears, letting it be known that he's not buying the "Jack
fell" story.
At Hayley's house, Hayley, Allison, Brooke and Billy are finishing dinner
when Hayley announces that he and Allison have "fallen in love". Allison
turns to Billy and tells him that she hopes he can be happy for her having
the "same kind of happiness you have with Brooke". Billy contends that they
are still friends and, as he rises to leave he tells Hayley and Allison to
"be happy", and you realize that he has once again returned to being a
gutless turd.
At home, Brooke is in bed calling out to her Billy, who is in the bathroom
staring at the mirror as if to tell himself what a douchebag he really is.
He returns to bed and, when Brooke starts to remove his shirt, he croons
"don't forget your diaphragm", like that's supposed to get her all hot and
bothered. Brooke goes into the bathroom, gets the diaphragm, looks at it,
puts it back in the cabinet, and returns to bed, stopping only to turn out
the lights.
Back at the hospital, Amanda stupidly enters Jack's room, only to discover
IT'S ALIVE! Jack speaks and tells Amanda that he won't tell what really
happened, and then informs her that she will never leave him again because if
she does, he will have to kill her. Peter walks in, and escorts Amanda out
just as Jack lapses back into his unconscious la-la land. Michael sees Peter
and Amanda, requests to see Jack's chart, and then smiles that characteristic
evil Michael Mancini grin.
Allison and Jane are jogging AND having a conversation, which is obviously
overdubbed as neither of them appear to be having the slightest problem with
BREATHING. Allison admits that, although her relationship with Hayley
started in an attempt to separate Brooke and Billy, it's now a "special"
thing, as if all successful relationships start out as a lie. Jane bitches
about Jo and Richard, and then declares she won't take off her engagement
ring until she "wins Richard back", which is kinda contradictory. Allison,
in a rare deep moment, tells Jane "be careful what you wish for" which,
ironically, is also the title to a Kristen Hall album released last year.
Jo goes to Shooters to see Jake and, much to her surprise, discovers that
Jake was indeed ticked off to see Jo and Richard having so much fun together.
Jo counters with some line about Shelley and her "butt floss bikini". Jake
and Jo, who are now starting to rival Billy and Allison as "most boring
couple", both admit that they miss each other and that they each need to work
on their respective stubborness. Shelley then walks in with a "box o'
computer" and tells Jo how she's bringing Jake into the 90's. And you can't
help but wonder how a girl stupid enough to marry someone like Jess would
actually know this is the 90's, much less posess any computer knowledge.
Back at the hospital - again - Michael informs Peter that he called Jack's
slimeball attorney who, in turn, retained Michael as Jack's new doctor.
Peter is obviously upset and, as he slams Michael against a wall and
threatens him, you notice, perhaps for the first time as I did, that Peter's
bottom front teeth are really quite crooked.
Kimberly is back in the kitchen, carving a turkey, only this time she's
not only listening to Dr. Joyce, but is also the on-air caller. She makes
no secret of her husband's full name as she tells the good doctor about
the "real demon" Michael is. With each non-flattering adjective she uses
to describe Michael, she plunges the knife into the bird, and you realize
that she should never be a chef, much less a surgeon. Meanwhile, Michael
is listening to this on his car radio and, furious, he calls the radio
station on his trendy car phone. Stating that his name is "Fred", he
begins ranting about the "nutcase zipper-headed mutant" and her "imaginary
playmate". Dr. Joyce Brothers calmly tells Fred to stay on the line while
she finds him a much-needed list of therapists so that he may deal with
his anger. Michael throws the car phone on the floor and, blinded by
anger, nearly loses control of his car. Fortunately for those of us who
rely on him for one-half of the humor factor in this show (the other half
obviously being Sydney), nothing happens.
*MATT ALERT!*MATT ALERT!* Don't blink or you'll miss Matt's 2-second scene
in which he and his mother, having just arrived home from his father's
funeral, go on the "Matt's going to medical school" guilt trip.
Michael goes to Amanda's apartment to confront her about Jack's "accident"
and tells her that Peter is "a bad boy". Amanda shows Michael the polaroids
of herself after being beaten by Jack years ago, and after she tells him the
details of her horrific marriage, she asks Michael how much it will cost to
buy his silence. He tells Amanda that he misunderstood the situation and
that no money is necessary. "I'll lie for you" he tells her, explaining that
he will indeed lie to the slimeball former-Fame-star attorney.
See Allison. See Hayley. See Allison in Hayley's bed. See Hayley treat
Allison to breakfast in bed, and then ask her to move in with him. See
Allison tell Hayley "this is going too fast" and "I need time to think".
See Allison be a mindless twit when, 5 minutes later we see her packing
her bags and moving out of her apartment.
Kimberly, sporting a denim outfit that actually compliments her
black-box-on-a-band, goes to Peter's office, only to discover that he's
not there and is, according to Sydney, "probably at Amanda's". Sydney,
realizing that Kimberly still thinks she has a chance with Peter, baits
Kimberly by calling her a "poor deluded psycho" and then divulging the
details of Peter's dead sister. Distraught, Kimberly goes "out of range"
and goes to Amanda's, where Peter is indeed trying to win Amanda back.
When he hears Kimberly shouting his name from outside, he steps out just
in time to see the police cart her off. Apologizing to Amanda, Peter turns
and leaves so he can go bail Kimberly out of jail.
The next morning, Kimberly, still looking quite good, is pacing back and
forth in Peter's living room as an exhausted-looking Peter lays
almost-comatose on the sofa. Kimberly confronts Peter about his sister and
his true intentions behind helping her, to which he replies "I do care about
you, Kimberly". Upset and knowing she can't leave, she asks Peter to please
leave her alone. He walks out the door, telling her he'll call her later.
Jo shows up at Shooters to "kidnap" her boyfriend Jake, which shows just how
little regard she has for his JOB. Being the dumb lug he is, he agrees to
just pick up and leave, much to Shelley's dismay.
Back at Peter's, Kimberly is watching tv when she spots Henry out of the
corner of her eye. Swinging open the front door, she surprises Henry with a
big stick she's hiding. Henry runs and Kimberly, undaunted, chases after him
and then tackles him, pins him to the ground, rips off his fake moustache and
then forces a confession out of him. As he begs her not to kill him, she
says "Kill you? I could KISS you" and then does just that. She then informs
"Henry" that he's fired, let's him go, and then dances around the backyard
shouting "I'm free!"
At the hospital yet again, Peter informs Amanda that Jack's condition is
still serious when suddenly a code blue is sounded for Jack's room. Peter
and what appears to be half the hospital staff rush in and revive him while
Amanda watches on.
It's a Halloween party, and strange things are
happening as Brooke announces to Billy that she's pregnant, Peter and Amanda
get it on, Jake and Shelley try to get it on on Jake's desk but are
interrupted by Jo, and Kimberly is set free.
