"No Time For Sperm Bank"

For anyone who was concerned about the whereabouts of Pool Boy this season, have no fear for HE HAS RETURNED!!! Clad in his Pool Boy Attire he flexes his muscles skimming nothing out of the crystal clean pool while, inside their apartment, Billy and Sam discuss Billy's latest project. He tells Sam he's on his way to meet Peter who plans to finance Amanda's proposed advertising agency so Sam asks what affect this will have on her new "Speed Racer" buddy, Craig. Billy could care less about Craig and explains that "first all the employees at Sky High will defect and the clients will follow" - sorta the reverse of what happened last season when Sky High was created. I guess Sam was too busy hiding a fugitive and trying to accessorize her supermarket uniform to notice at the time. Billy asks Sam not to tell Craig as he heads out the door so Sam promptly waits all of 2 seconds before jogging - literally - over to Craig's apartment. She and Craig rehash the previous evening's events and they both agree not to tell Billy. Craig starts apologizing all over again and Sam tells him to stop beating himself up and they hug and I'm guessing the only reason they're showing us all this again is for the benefit of those folks who missed their exact same "90210 moment" last week. Regardless, as they stand hugging each other, Jennifer walks in and sarcastically asks if anyone can have a hug so now she must have the hots for Sam. Oh no wait - that was directed at Craig, wasn't it? With sarcasm, one can never be certain, y'know? Sam leaves and Jen makes herself at home by hopping up on the kitchen counter and telling Craig she's there to check up on him because he was "pretty loaded" last night (didn't he have just one shot before she cut him off??) Craig coldly tells her they aren't friends and to leave so she reminds him, "We may not be friends, but we *are* lovers - and nothing can change that" and skips out the door.

Peter and Billy are having their breakfast meeting where Billy is rattling off all sorts of advertising statistics and information that he obviously culled during his "all-nighter". He's so talented he even created a logo for Amanda's agency! Mind you, it looks like it took all of about 5 minutes to create but what do you expect from a former taxi driver/soccer player? Peter must have taken this into consideration as he seems impressed with Billy's work. When Billy asks if Amanda knows of Peter's financial intentions, he answers "no" and asks Billy not to say anything to her about it. "Leave Amanda to me," Peter says with a smile.

Hey look - it's Amanda's dead ex-husband Jack Parezi in his underwear on a Calvin Klein billboard! Or maybe that's just Antonio Sabato, Jr. - the actor who played him.....

At the beach house Michael is pacing back and forth when Jennifer shows up to take him to work. She's late and Michael lets her know it by ranting and raving about how important he and his job are. Jennifer tells him to "take his foul mood out on someone else" or she's "calling Mom". Amazingly, this petty threat causes Michael to do a complete 180 and he instantly calms down and apologizes. All these years people have trying to control him by running him over and poisoning him and blackmailing him when all they had to do was threaten to call his mother... who knew? Michael asks Jennifer to call the hospital for him so he can tell them he's on his way because, even though he had no problem buttoning his shirt or tying his tie, suddenly he can't use a touch tone phone (am I the only one here who has ever dialed a phone with their nose?). Jennifer obliges and dials about a dozen numbers so either the hospital is in another country or Alyssa Milano was absent the day they taught proper telephone usage in her Acting 101 class. She hands the phone to Michael who immediately asks to be patched through to his office but guess what - it's not the hospital as expected but instead it's Megan at home. As Michael stammers, Jennifer (who is once again sitting on the kitchen counter) scribbles "ASK HER TO DINNER JERK!" on a notepad and shoves it in his face so he does. At first Megan turns him down but after he "begs", she agrees to have dinner with him the following evening.

Billy arrives at work half an hour late and expects to be reprimanded for it when Craig immediately follows him into his office. However, Craig has a different agenda. He apologizes to Billy and admits to "being a jerk" to which Billy coldly replies, "yeah, I know." Craig says he knows it will take time to "win back Billy's trust" but in time he knows they will "be partners". None of this seems to mean anything to Billy as he suggests they take things "one day at a time".

Over at the Los Angeles Sperm Bank, Michael is explaining the artificial insemination process to Taylor. She'll get an ovulation kit at the beginning of her cycle and when she's ovulating she'll have a "96 hour window of time" in which she can then be inseminated. Taylor excitedly tells Michael she's been thinking about the "donor guy" and wants him to be a graduate from either Harvard, Yale or Stanford and also a "professional" - like a doctor or a lawyer or even an artist. Michael laughs in her face and tells Ms. Not-Grounded-In-Reality that she should be more concerned about finding a donor whose characteristics closely match Kyle's. With that in mind, he suggests they find a donor who is an "ex-Marine jarhead grill cook with a high school education and a jones for jazz." Smiling, Taylor agrees saying, "A girl can dream, can't she?"

Coop is at Burns-Mancini telling a contractor to knock a wall out when Peter enters the office demanding to know who he is and why they're knocking down HIS wall. Megan informs Peter that Coop is his and Michael's new partner, which is obviously news to Peter. He tells Coop the partnership agreement he signed won't hold up in court and demands to see Michael when there's a knock on the main office door. Knowing it must be the "door handle challenged" Mancini himself, Peter flings open the door and yells at Michael before storming off into his office. Michael immediately ushers Coop into his office and apologizes for Peter's behavior. When Coop wants to know why Michael didn't tell Peter about him, Michael explains his latest scheme. "Don't worry about Peter," Michael informs Coop. "We're going to push him out and have our own practice... two against one."

Suddenly it's nighttime as Kyle and Amanda enter the 4616 courtyard arm in arm, presumably coming home from work. They start toward Amanda's apartment when Kyle says he wants to check in on Taylor since she stayed home sick from work. Annoyed, Amanda walks off as Kyle knocks on Taylor's door. Naturally, Taylor is delighted to see Kyle and smirks at Amanda as she invites him into her apartment. Inside, she tells Kyle she talked to her doctor who informed her she'll just have to "get used to being sick - at least for the first 3 months of her pregnancy". When Kyle asks what her due-date is, she replies, "mid-February, give or take a week". Kyle accepts this answer so now I'm thinking Taylor should find a sperm donor with an IQ equivalent to a can of SPAM since Kyle hasn't had sex with Taylor since last March and is, obviously, as dumb as a bag of hammers. Taylor fakes a yawn and says she's tired so Kyle tells her to call if she needs anything and leaves. As Taylor closes the door behind him I notice a bright light shining through her front window so either the set designer screwed up or the alien mothership has come to return Kyle's brain.

This must be homecoming week because now the fearless LEAF BLOWER MAN has also returned!! Meanwhile, upstairs at Amanda's, Jennifer stops by with her rent check and informs Amanda that Megan is staying with her temporarily as if Amanda is blind and hasn't caught on to that fact already. Kyle emerges from Amanda's apartment on his way to open up the restaurant for Taylor, kisses Amanda goodbye and leaves. Seizing the moment, Jennifer tells Amanda, "You're a better person than I am" which is, ironically, the exact same thing she said to Megan just 2 weeks ago so either this girl has a serious inferiority complex around blondes or she's up to something. Jennifer continues, "Letting Taylor live here in your building... now that she's pregnant... and especially now that it's Kyle's. Is that better or worse than being your ex-husband's?" Amanda, who used to have really sharp comebacks, just rolls her eyes and looks away. Jennifer tells her, "More power to you - have a nice day!" as she walks away.

At Burns, Mancini & Cooper, Peter escorts his accountant out of his office as he confirms, "you'll call me when the funds transfer to my account, right?" The accountant agrees and leaves. As soon as he's gone, Megan jumps up and follows Peter into his office, ready to attack. Assuming Peter's about to "pull something on Michael", she urges him to reconsider. Peter informs her he's liquidating some assets so he can finance Amanda's new ad agency. Seeing through this facade, Megan calls Peter on it saying, "Now that Taylor is past tense, you want Amanda back. That's such a guy thing..." Rolling her eyes, she advises Peter, "If you have feelings for Amanda just tell her, don't try to buy her love. Money only buys you a warm body and a cold heart." And she should know. As if reading my mind, Peter says exactly that so Megan calmly asks him not to insult her. He immediately apologizes and leaves to go take care of one of Michael's patients at the hospital. At the front door Peter passes both Dr. Cooper and the man adding his name to the front door, pauses, looks around at all the construction being done and sighs, "Great - just great" before exiting. Coop heads over to Megan and notes the obvious - "That guy really doesn't like me." Megan tells him not to worry about it as she hands Coop his messages, including several from his wife. Coop immediately corrects her saying, "my shrew of an ex-wife" and asks Megan to continue taking messages since he really doesn't want to talk to her. He then asks if his files from Cleveland have arrived and when she tells him they haven't but she'll file them as soon as they do, he quickly tells her not to. Sensing Megan's confusion, Coop explains he "wants to look at them first" because, after all, why would he even be on this show if he didn't have a boatload of secrets complete with a closet full of skeletons, right?

At Sky High, Craig goes to Billy's office but Billy is nowhere around. Craig asks an employee if she knows where he is so she informs him Billy is at a meeting with a client (Craig is supposed to be the one in charge here, right?) He goes into Billy's office under the pretense he's looking for a particular file but immediately starts snooping through the file cabinet in search of the brown file folder Billy carried in the previous morning. Within seconds he finds it (geez, even Brooke had to find a key first) and sees the incredible "Amanda Woodward Advertising" logo Billy created. Craig is instantly annoyed - no doubt he's jealous of Billy's newfound artistic talents.

Back at 4616, Sam is down in the laundry room when Craig approaches her demanding to know what's going on with Billy and Amanda. At first, Sam tells him she doesn't know anything but after he starts kicking appliances and shouting about "the pain and grief we share over Sydney's death", she gives in and tells him about Billy and Amanda and Peter and the prospectus they've been working on. She begs Craig not to tell Billy she told him so he promises not to "name names" but vows he will "never let Amanda steal Sydney's and my company".

Michael and Megan are having dinner at Kyle's when Michael tries to make a pass at Megan and is quickly shot down. "Electricity has never been our problem," she explains, "honesty and trust has." Michael tries to convince her he's a "changed man" since injuring his hands so Megan promptly reminds him about "the whole mess with Dr. Cooper". She tells Michael it's not enough to just say you're sorry because, to Michael, those are just words. The only way he's going to get back into Megan's "good graces" is to go to couple's therapy with her. He agrees even though it's obvious he doesn't want to. Taylor approaches the table in an obvious tizzy and tells Michael she "needs a doctor" because she's having a medical emergency regarding her baby. Pulling him away from the table in into the bathroom, she shows Michael her positive ovulation test results and anxiously reminds him she only has 12-36 hours to get pregnant and needs sperm immediately. Michael tells her he'll "fudge" on her physical and other medical requirements in order to get her sperm the following day. With that, he returns to his table to continue "avoiding couple's therapy" with his wife.

Michael's attempts have obviously failed since he's now in a therapist's office with Megan. He tells the therapist how, even though he tells the truth "99.9% of the time", Megan never believes him. He defends the ".1% I fib a little" by bringing up the whole Kimberly/Megan scheme to deceive him that brought Megan on the show in the first place. Megan reminds him they weren't married then - hell, they didn't even know each other - but Michael insists what he did wasn't as bad as what she did so the therapist quickly intercedes. He notes that trust and honesty are an obstacle in their relationship and suggests they do nothing but tell the truth for the next 48 hours. Megan is skeptical that Michael can do it but he emphatically agrees to do it. "Piece of cake," he tells her.

Craig and Billy are playing racquetball when Billy inquires, "why the sudden interest in male bonding?" Craig replies he's taking out some of his aggression and then brings up Amanda and the fact he knows she can't stay out of advertising for very long. Billy lies and says he thinks Amanda is happy at the jazz club and has no intention of returning. Seeing where Billy's loyalty truly lies, Craig confronts him with the fact he knows about the proposed takeover of Sky High and fires Billy on the spot. Billy calmly admits, "You're right. I was out to stab you in the back. And I'm not even remotely sorry because you don't have what it takes to run an agency." He thanks Craig for "saving him the trouble of quitting" and walks out.

At a restaurant that isn't Kyle's (amazing) Peter and Amanda are having dinner when Amanda notes the oddness of the situation. Peter insists he just wants to be friends which appears to be a word not in Amanda's vocabulary since she asks for clarification. "You mean as in calling each other, having dinner, sending birthday cards?" she asks and I think she's really hinting that she wants a 60's retro birthday party complete with go-go boots like the one Sydney threw for Michael a couple years back. Changing the subject, Peter inquires about Amanda's ad agency so she tells him her main problem is raising enough money. She tells him the bank will give her half and she's considering selling the apartment building (oh horrors, no! Anything but that!) so Peter interrupts and tells her not to sell anything because he'll give her the money. He confesses he went to Billy and asked for numbers and figures $150,000 is what it will take to start an advertising agency. Shocked, but not stupid, Amanda asks what Peter wants in return. He tries the friendship angle again but quickly concedes he "wants to get back what we had" and that he "wants a second chance". Amanda shoots him down, noting they've had more than one second chance and tells him they aren't ever getting back together. Standing up, but not showing us her expanding mid-section, she tells Peter to keep his money and leaves the table.

Michael is, once again, pacing frantically around his beach house as he tries unsuccessfully to put on his jacket when there's a knock at the door. He opens the door and in walks Taylor, frantic about getting pregnant. Plopping herself on the sofa she whines that a pipe burst at the sperm bank and she tried a couple other sperm banks but had trouble with all the "red tape" and is in a panic because she'll only be fertile for another 72 hours. Michael, who is on his way to pick up Megan for a date, tells her he'll "overnight some sperm to her apartment" in an attempt to get Taylor to leave so he can do the same. She reminds him there is no sperm to be found so he tells her to wait until next month to be inseminated. When she reminds him she needs to get pregnant NOW in order for Kyle to think it's his baby, Michael ushers her to the door as he suggests she "pick up a guy at a bar and hope you don't get any diseases." Suddenly a light bulb goes off in Taylor's head as she turns to Michael and tells him, "Have sex with me!" Damn - and he was so close to escaping, too. Michael tells her no - yes, Michael Mancini turned down sex - but Taylor insists. "I don't want a relationship, I don't want a commitment," she says. "I just need your sperm." Michael tells her she "can't have them" so she pushes him down on the sofa, straddles him, unties her halter top and orders him to "shut up and give it your best shot." Michael *still* resists as she proceeds to kiss him but he hasn't had sex in awhile and horn-dog Michael returns as he quickly gives in to her advances.

At 2 AM, Amanda quietly slips out of bed and goes into the living room where she calls Eric in New York City. Even though it's 5 AM his time, he's dressed for his morning jog which Amanda evidently already knew about. As Kyle stands in the hallway and listens, Amanda tells Eric she wants to launch her own advertising agency and asks if he'll support her financially. Eric agrees without hesitation and tells her he'll get back to her later after he's talked to his accountant. Hanging up the phone, Amanda is shocked to see Kyle standing there. When he angrily inquires about who she called and why she called at 2 AM, she answers truthfully and tells him he has no reason to be jealous. Kyle tells her if she needs money he'll sell the Boston restaurant but she tells him it's not worth the half-million dollars she needs so Billy must not have had those numbers right after all. Kyle asks, "What happened to starting small?" so Amanda tells him how she has to be "the biggest and the best" which, technically she already is given her real-life pregnancy and Special Guest Star status. Amanda says she'd rather have Eric as an investor instead of Peter and tells Kyle about Peter's offer. As they return to bed, Kyle makes no secret of his discomfort with all this so Amanda reminds him it's "just business". Judging from the way Kyle turns away from her, he's not convinced.

It's morning and Michael is now 12 hours late for his date with Megan as he knocks on Jennifer's apartment door. Flinging the door open, Jennifer immediately chastises her older brother for being late but Megan is calm as she reminds him of their agreement to be completely honest for 48 hours. Sensing impending doom, Jennifer heads out for "a long jog" wearing nothing but shorts and a halter top and if that girl doesn't start wearing a sports bra when she exercises she'll soon find her breasts in her lap. Back to the Bickerson's... Michael starts his explanation and, being as honest as possible, carefully picks and chooses his words. "There was this medical emergency... I had to squeeze in a patient... with a gland problem... it took all night. It was a very touch and go situation - I've never heard moaning like that... I couldn't get to a phone. Then I made the mistake of lying down and I fell asleep." Megan is hesitant to believe him after hearing a story like that so Michael tells her, "You're the only woman for me - you're the only one who's ever made me happy" so already he's blown it with that lie because, if you remember, he's said the exact same thing to each of his previous 3 wives. However, Megan buys it as well as his story and they kiss. Michael tries to get the kiss to lead to other things but Megan stops him telling him she's "not ready to jump back into bed - honest."

Coop arrives at his office and discovers his files have finally arrived from Cleveland. Opening a box, he searches for and finds a patient file for Kimberly Shaw. Just as he tries to shove it in his briefcase, Megan enters and tries to grab the file because "all the paper-pushing is her job" - and here I thought it was her job to premiere the latest in polyester fashions. A struggle ensues over the file until it falls to the floor and only when Megan stoops down to pick it up does she discover Kimberly's name. Coop explains he was Kimberly's doctor back in Cleveland after her second season car crash. Astonished, Megan asks Coop if he knew Michael was once married to Kimberly so he tells her he only found out a couple days ago. Not surprisingly, Megan believes him but after buying Michael's load of bull I'm beginning to think her brain was also stolen by the Pod People. She tells Coop Michael has a right to know and, although she agrees to "keep his secret for now", urges him to "find a way to tell Michael".

At Upstairs, Jennifer is pouring Peter a drink when Kyle grabs the glass and delivers it to Peter personally, telling him to "drink his drink and get out". Peter is confused so Kyle explains he's not happy about Peter's offer to finance Amanda's agency. "This one's on the house", Kyle tells Peter as he takes the glass back and pours out the drink. "Now get out." Peter calmly says, "I don't know how I got to be the bad guy - you're the one who goes home with Amanda every night," as he tosses a few dollars on the bar and walks away. Not one to miss anything, Jennifer walks over and makes a smartass remark about how all of Kyle's relationships are complicated and either she can mix a drink like no one business or Kyle is entirely too dedicated to ex-girlfriends because if I ever talked that way to my boss I'd get fired in a heartbeat.

Peter walks downstairs to Kyle's and finds Coop sitting at the bar yelling into his cellular phone telling whoever is on the other end to talk to his lawyer. Hanging up the phone, he turns to Peter - who has decided having a drink at the downstairs bar is different than having a drink upstairs even though they're both owned by Kyle - and tells him that was his "shrew of an ex-wife" on the phone and if he says the word "shrew" one more time I'm going to be forced to hurt him. Peter tells Coop how he also has an ex-wife but admits he still "has feelings" for her. Joining in on the "Divorced Male Doctors Who Sit At Bars And Discuss Failed Relationships" theme, Coop tells Peter, "There was only one woman I ever loved... now she's dead." Peter tells him he also has a dead wife but Coop explains, "she wasn't my wife but I wanted her to be." Shifting the topic of conversation, Peter tells Coop he's had a change of heart about having a new partner in the practice because, after all, "two against one" is a good thing. Having heard this song and dance just a couple days earlier from Michael, Coop agrees.

Michael enters his Chief Of Staff office (wasn't he supposed to give that job back to Peter?) to find Taylor - dressed in some trampy outfit complete with high heels - sitting in his chair with her feet kicked up on the desk. It's late and Michael wants her to go away so he can get some work done. "Do you have any idea what it's like being Chief Of Staff?" he asks her. Taylor replies, "Well, Peter went to cocktail parties and he gave speeches" which surprises Michael who obviously isn't having as much fun now that it's his turn in the driver's seat. "Really?" he asks. "I write memos that nobody reads and take meetings with moronic doctors." He starts in on his sob story about how being Chief Of Staff isn't nearly as wonderful as he thought it would be but Taylor has other things on her mind. She finally read the brochures Michael gave her and discovered if they have sex again it will increase her odds of getting pregnant by 32%. Again Michael refuses, even as Taylor rips off his clothes, throws him on the desk and gets down to business. I bet Michael would be more willing to cooperate if Taylor just threatened to call his mom.
