Amanda rolls over in her bed and reaches for Kyle who she immediately discovers is no longer there. Annoyed, she puts on her robe and walks out of her apartment into the courtyard where she runs into a very disheveled looking Billmeister. Billy starts babbling about how Sam left and how he's been looking for her everywhere but Amanda - like most of us - could really care less and tells him so. Blowing him off she continues on to Kyle's apartment where she immediately jumps on him for leaving without saying goodbye. "It's rude sneaking out of a woman's bed," she tells him and if she read "The Rules" she'd know she's not supposed to be sleeping with him in the first place. Kyle reminds her she has a big day ahead with Eric and the ribbon cutting ceremony of her new company. Sensing his macho Marine Boy insecurity, Amanda tells him once again how he has nothing to be jealous of. There's "only you" she coos as she confirms this with a big morning breath kiss.
Over at Lexi's hotel, Peter is still in bed with Lexi so he must have learned the "leaving is rude" rule while he was still with Amanda. He wakes Lexi up by sticking his tongue down her throat while she's asleep, something I'm sure was as big a turnoff to experience as it was for me to watch. Peter and Lexi both say they have "no regrets" about sleeping together but agree they need to keep their newfound relationship a secret until "the shrew" settles her financial squabbles with Coop. Peter mentions Coop's statement that Lexi doesn't need any money and asks why she's pursuing it so she emphatically proclaims how devoted she was to him and how she put him through school only to be dumped in the end. Exhausted from her mini tirade and sensing this scene needs some way to end, she tells Peter, "make love to me"; Dr. Love is all too happy to oblige her.
There's a knock at Craig's door and when he opens it he's shocked to see Sydney's father standing there. Mr. Andrews comes in and tells Craig he's in town on business and wanted to see how Craig was holding up after Sydney's death. He reaches into his jacket and begins pulling out an envelope for Craig when Jennifer emerges from the bedroom wearing nothing more than a shirt. Mr. Andrews is angered at this but only because he thinks they slept together and doesn't realize that's how Jennifer dresses all the time anyway. She immediately recognizes Mr. Andrews from way back when at Michael and Jane's wedding where a very young Jennifer spilled cake on him. Realizing the stickiness of her current situation, she tries desperately to backpeddle her way out of it by stating she just came by to "bring Craig breakfast" but even Craig senses the idiocy of her comment and tells her to just leave. Mr. Andrews volunteers to leave instead and does so after which point Craig goes back to beating up on himself, a skill he's become quite good at lately. Blaming himself he tells Jennifer, "I just keep losing."
Billy is in his new office at his new job where's he's focusing all his attention on old mistakes. He calls Kate Reilly - Sam's mom - at work over in Maryland and asks if she knows where Sam is. Despite the fact that Sam is standing right beside her, Kate lies and says she doesn't know where her daughter is but tells Billy to leave her alone, as if he has much of a choice at this point. Hanging up the phone, Mrs. Reilly turns to Sam and tells her she "did the right thing". Meanwhile, Billy walks out of his office and joins up with Amanda and Eric where a big ribbon has been taped from one end of the main office to the other. Amanda tells everyone how wonderful Eric is and Eric tells everyone how great Amanda is and now I'm starting to feel like someone dumped cake on *me* what with all this sugary sweet conversation. Cutting the ribbon, Eric tells everyone to "get to work". Woohoo - can this boy party or what?
Megan returns home to Jennifer's apartment because, even though she had a "wild and wonderful weekend" with Michael, they still have a lot of things to work out before she will move back in with him. Jennifer is calling all the local hotels desperately searching for Mr. Andrews so she can patch things up with him and Craig so Craig can go on to be the big "hunky" success he was always meant to be and then Jennifer can marry a billionaire. Sounds like someone has been watching way too many Aaron Spelling television shows. Megan sarcastically comments on Jennifer's plan so Jen replies, "we Mancini's make things happen" and then suggests Megan move back into the beach house before Michael "makes it happen with someone else." With that, Jennifer skips out the door for work.
Suddenly it's late at night and Amanda is still in her office when Billy enters and tells her he's taking some time off so he can fly to Maryland and talk to Sam. When Amanda denies his request, Billy gets cocky and tells her he's taking the "personal days he's entitled to in his contract" and don't employees usually have to clear time off with their superiors regardless of what their contract says? Things must be different at Amanda Woodward Advertising because she immediately backs down but tells Billy if he's not back in 72 hours he's fired.
Michael is sitting at the beach house reading a book about how to make his marriage work when Taylor waltzes in through the sliding glass door so he obviously hasn't yet read the chapter about how you should lock your doors to protect against alien sexaholic beasts. Upon seeing Taylor's gruesome face, Michael immediately jumps to the defensive but she tells him she just came by to thank him for getting her pregnant. She continues on about how she wants Kyle back but sex with Michael was so much fun she wants to do it "just one more time". Again Michael resists her advances and again Taylor's persistance wins out as Michael reciprocates the "kiss me while you strip me" act as they head into the bedroom. No sooner have they closed the bedroom door does Megan enter in through the front door of the house looking for her husband. She walks into the bedroom, sees Michael and Taylor half undressed laying on the bed, hurls some obscenities and leaves. Michael chases after her but to no avail while Taylor sarcastically comments how Megan will take him back because "she always does." Michael realizes his only hope of getting Megan back now will be to tell her the whole truth about just being a "sperm donor" for Taylor but Taylor convinces him otherwise. She threatens to tell Megan a bunch of lies, including how Michael said Megan was just a whore and how never enjoyed sex after "dead Kimberly" until he slept with Taylor. As she walks away Michael - the only decent actor left on this show - flips his jacket onto the floor, sighs and silently longs for the old days when he had scenes worth writing about with "dead Kimberly" or even "dead Sydney" for that matter.
The following morning the phone rings at Jennifer's but before she can answer it Megan runs in and tells her not to answer it because it's Michael. Sure enough, the answering machine picks up and Michael immediately starts apologizing for being in bed with Taylor but promises he "has a good reason". Megan shuts off the answering machine and heads out the door but, much to her surprise, Michael is standing there with his cellular phone in hand. He forces his way in and tells her how Taylor "forced herself" on him after she drugged him. For once, Megan finally stops acting blonde and tells Michael, "we're through - for good this time" as she hands him back her wedding ring and walks out. Michael looks devastated as Jennifer smugly looks on.
Over in Crab Central, Maryland (and I'm not just talking seafood here) Sam is having a reunion with one of the cooks when her mother Kate comes up and reminds her she has "hungry customers". Sam takes the 2 plates out to them out on the patio and then stops to take the order of her newest customer who turns out to be Billy. He tells her she belongs in LA and then kisses her to prove she still has feelings for him. Snake Woman walks up and snidely observes that "this must be Billy" and then tells him how they "have the right to refuse service to anyone". Billy calmly leaves but tells Sam he'll be back. Kate turns to her daughter and tells her she has a table waiting and if this woman has nothing better to do than harp on the help about waiting patrons why doesn't she just wait on them her damn self? Sam heads in but stops for a moment to catch her breath - assumedly from the kiss although I think she's really wondering why her bitch mother is making her do all the work.
Jennifer is sitting in a hotel lobby showing us she's not the only Mancini woman who doesn't know how to dress when Mr. Andrews walks in. She jumps up and tells him how she's been looking all over for him and proceeds to explain how the "physical stuff" between her and Craig is nothing more than the "pain Craig is feeling over Sydney" and how she's a "port in the storm". Mr. Andrews is unimpressed with her explanation and tells her flatly he never wants to see her or Craig again. He starts to walk away but Jennifer doesn't let up and tells him she thinks "moving on is what Sydney would have wanted" not only for Craig but for Mr. Andrews as well. For whatever reason these words seem to have a profound effect on him because he stops to sit down and listen to more of Jennifer's pearls of wisdom. "We only have so many years on this earth," she says. "Ticked off and angry is a waste of precious time." With that, she walks away.
Lexi marches into Coop's office for Round 8742 of this ongoing financial divorce battle so Coop exasperatingly tells her, "I am broke - there IS no money!" Overhearing this from his office (hell, you could hear the 2 of them arguing from neighboring STATES) Peter calmly enters and asks if "everything is OK". Lexi tells "Dr. Burns" that it is and, turning back to Coop says, "this is war" and leaves. After she's gone, Peter quietly affirms, "I think she means it" and walks back to his office. Coop pulls a Mancini and mumbles under his breath, "yeah well who asked you?" and goes about his business which, to date, has yet to involve any real patients.
At Upstairs, Amanda meets Kyle at the bar where Jen is busy "moping". Kyle walks away to talk to the band leaving Amanda and Jennifer to have a little girl talk about "man trouble". Jennifer tells Amanda her "celibacy thing" was a good idea and continues offering unsolicited whining by telling Amanda, "Michael and I are in the same boat." Amanda is surprised to hear this as she's still under the notion that Michael and Megan reconciled, so Jennifer tells her about Michael and Taylor. Amanda grabs this and runs with it - straight to Kyle - who she demands get a paternity test. Kyle agrees and then runs downstairs and into the kitchen where he and his oh-not-so-trendy "Miami Vice" jacket confront Taylor with this latest news. Grabbing the phone Kyle threatens to call Megan for the truth so Taylor confesses she has been sleeping with Michael. Kyle is annoyed and demands a paternity test so Taylor tells him he has "her word" that it's his baby. The same pod people who returned Megan's brain must have had a 2-for-1 special because Kyle isn't buying it nor does he want to hear her "good explanation". He tells her, "until you have that paternity test done, we have nothing to say" and storms out.
Amanda is at Eric's hotel room for a prearranged appointment and tells him she needs to clear the air about his moving to LA. She reminds him how she turned down his romantic advances years ago and how their relationship is "nothing but business". Eric pretends to feel the same way and tries more than once to get Amanda to stay for dinner or at least a drink. Amanda must also be getting a clue because she gets the heebie-jeebies and sees herself out, leaving Eric to call Room Service to change his order to "dinner for one... and cancel the champagne".
In his Chief Of Staff office that I thought belonged to Peter, Michael is munching on a vending machine salad when Taylor walks in. She flippantly states, "People who dine alone die younger" before getting to the real reason for her visit: Kyle knows she's been sleeping with Michael. She tells Michael he needs to do a paternity test right away, despite the fact she may not even be pregnant, and fake the results. Michael confidently refuses, knowing he now has nothing to lose since Megan didn't buy the "Taylor drugged me" explanation and is long gone. Taylor laughs when she hears this story so Michael defensively tells her she's "a better liar" when a lightbulb goes off over his head. "Megan won't believe me, but she will believe you," he says and then offers to fake Taylor's paternity test if she'll go talk to Megan for him. Taylor thinks this "lie for you, lie for me" deal is terrific and she confirms it by kissing Michael 3 or 4 times before leaving. Michael immediately wipes his mouth, something I'm sure every man who's ever kissed Lizard Lips has wanted to do.
Sam and Ernie arrive at the docks to purchase their fresh catch of the day and find Billy there playing in a bucket of crabs. He tells Sam he's going to "work in her world" which is ironic when you consider how just last week he ridiculed her job. While Sam pays the fish man, Ernie and Billy discuss Sam and her relationship with her mother. Ernie explains how this is "a second chance for Kate" who didn't do a very good job of protecting Sam from Psycho Dad to begin with. Sam walks up at this point so Billy gently tells her, "I won't hurt you." "You already have," she replies as she hops into the truck and drives off.
Mr. Andrews makes a second surprise visit to Craig's where he hands him a check "from Sydney". He explains he took out a family insurance policy when his daughters were young and already endorsed the check over to Craig. Craig tells his father-in-law he can't accept the check so Mr. Andrews replies, "the check is yours - what you do with it is your business" which secretly means "I hope you choke on it." Mr. Andrews suggests they each move on and as they hug goodbye, Jennifer witnesses the exchange from her apartment window above, no doubt thinking how she could purchase a decent hairstyle with part of that money.
Kyle perches himself at the Upstairs bar where Jen tells him how Eric is on his way to meet Amanda about some work-related junk, causing Kyle to immediately jump to the defensive. "Do I sense some male energy shield?" Jennifer asks, obviously thinking she just landed a part on "Star Trek - The Idiot Generation". Kyle walks away as Eric approaches so Jennifer and her cleavage tell Eric, "we have great drinks, great music and great women - which will it be?" Eric explains he only needs a ride home and that Amanda has that covered so Jennifer asks if Amanda will be spending the night, and I'd really like to know what bartending school this chick went to. I mean, it's tradition to tell your bartender all your problems but this girl is getting a bit too personal. Eric tells her Amanda will have to "take a number and get in line" which is Amanda's cue to enter the scene. She tells him she has some spreadsheets she wants to show him but he tells her he has other plans and asks if she'll give him a ride home. As they go to leave, Kyle bolts out of nowhere and whines to Amanda how they're supposed to have dinner together. Amanda tells Kyle she has some work to do and doesn't know how long she'll be and aside from showing us this show desperately needs new writers, this scene served no purpose whatsoever and made absolutely no sense at all.
Megan is getting ready to leave the office and has graduated from wearing ugly polyester pant suits with big collar shirts to ugly polyester pant suits with tight fitting crop tops which expose her midriff for all the medical world to see. She pauses to pick up a framed photo of her and Michael and rubs her finger over it, almost as if she's thinking, "Oooh - glass!" Just then Taylor enters and immediately launches into her rehearsed apology/story. She tells Megan she is a sex addict and drugged Michael into having sex with her. When Megan asks what kind of drugs, Taylor lies they were "some barbituates... I had leftover..." so Megan asks if they're the same barbituates Taylor used on Peter. When Taylor says they are, Megan - who obviously has some kind of drug history of her own - shouts, "Peter was unconscious - that's what barbituates do!!!" She then demands to know how much Michael paid Taylor for her "third rate performance", so Taylor admits she lied about the drugs but that she did force Michael to have sex with her and that it was only a "one time thing". Megan doesn't care about Taylor's excuses, only the fact that her husband cheated on her. "You can have him," she tells Taylor but when Taylor replies, "I don't want him," Megan gives her a much-deserved slap across the face and storms out.
Jennifer and Craig are having lunch at some trendy looking place when Jennifer comments how the check Mr. Andrews gave Craig is a "large chunk of change", obviously overlooking the fact that Craig's wife had to DIE in order for the check to materialize in the first place. She asks Craig what he's planning to do with the money and "the rest of his life". When Craig mentions his business failures, she tells him of all the other wonderful jobs he could be doing with his MBA, but Craig has other ideas. He tells her not only is he not going to touch the money, he also plans on doing nothing at all with his life and just be a "man of leisure". Jennifer, not at all pleased with having her fantasy ripped to shreds, fakes a smile and agrees to support Craig in his decision.
Hey, is that Snoop Doggy Dogg playing the flute? No, it's just another lame musician-extra playing in a sorry excuse of a jazz band at Kyle's pathetic club. From across the bar, Eric makes eye contact with Megan who is sitting at a table by herself. Before he can approach her, however, Michael enters and confronts Megan begging her yet again for forgiveness. Megan tells him to leave her alone which angers Michael who isn't used to having to beg this much for anything. He tells her, "at least I knew Taylor's name" and reminds her of all the "nameless men" Megan was with when she was a "high class hooker". A fight ensues between the dueling Mancini's when Eric jumps in, followed by Kyle who tells Michael to "take it outside". Michael leaves the now-silent bar, so Kyle tells everyone the next round is on him as he cues the band to resume playing. Megan thanks Eric for intervening so they introduce themselves and talk briefly. Eric is pleased to hear Megan is divorcing Michael and as they stand smiling at each other, Kyle watches in amazement from the bar.
Billy shows up at Kate's restaurant 15 minutes before closing time and places his order when Kate again reminds him he's not welcome there. Billy refuses to leave and tells Kate he's not going back to LA without Sam. He brings up Kate's past failures with Sam and tells her she's using this situation to make up for being a lousy mother in the past. Kate calmly turns around, grabs a shotgun, aims it at Billy and tells him to get out. Sam enters and tells Rambo Mama to put the gun down but Kate refuses saying, "I'm not going to let him hurt you." Sam tells Billy to go, that she wants to stay in with her gun-toting mother, so Billy reluctantly leaves.

"Desperately Seeking Samantha"
OK, let me start off by saying this episode sucked donkey and that I'd rather have teeth pulled without anesthesia than have to sit through it again. Nothing happened worth writing about so this will be short, sarcastic, and to the point. Ready? Let's begin.
