"My Little Coma Girl"

This week's episode picks up right where last week's left off - with Kyle dangling Eric from his balcony while Amanda frantically begs both men to save Eric's life. Eric finally confesses that he and Amanda didn't sleep together which Amanda confirms so Kyle pulls Eric back to safety. Kyle storms out, with Amanda running behind him defending her actions explaining she did it not to save her agency but to save Kyle's restaurant and jazz club. "I love you," she adds but her words fall on deaf, macho, Marine Boy ears. In the non-empty elevator Kyle barks that Amanda didn't have to "prostitute herself" which is probably one of the top ten things you shouldn't say in front of strangers in a small, enclosed space. He insists it wouldn't have been a "one time thing" and that Eric would have kept blackmailing her with sex but she informs him of the papers that were already drawn up. Mind you, those papers still needed Eric's signature and sleeping with him once might not have gotten that John Hancock but Amanda seems oblivious to that possibility. The elevator stops, Kyle and Amanda get off - the elevator that is - and Kyle asks, "If I hadn't shown up, would you have told me?" Amanda insists that's "not the point" so a disappointed Kyle responds, "That's what I thought" and walks away.

In ICU, Coop is holding hands with and chatting away to a comatose Megan about the power of music, explaining that he had Jennifer bring by some of Megan's CDs. Picking up a Joni Mitchell CD, he says, "A woman after my own heart" obviously clueless to the fact that maybe these are *Jen's* CDs and that she might be focusing her sights on a DOCTOR now that Craig is out of the picture. He pops the CD into the boombox and as music typically known for putting people INTO comas fills the room, Coop tells Megan how he'll "be right here" when she opens her eyes. Outside the room, Michael and a nurse are arguing over the visitation list which Michael is obviously not a part of so Coop goes outside to take care of it. Michael insists that, as Megan's husband, he has the right to see her but Coop reminds him that they are legally separated and, therefore, Michael has no rights at all. He reminds Michael that Megan is his patient and in Coop's opinion a visit from Michael would do more harm than good. Somehow Michael buys this load of crap but threatens that Coop better add his name to the list of allowable visitors.

Taylor intercepts Kyle as he descends the stairs from his apartment on his way out. She immediately starts asking about the night before but Kyle just pushes her out of the way and continues out of the courtyard. Not content to just spend 2 seconds in a scene, Taylor runs up to Amanda's apartment where she says she's come by to pick up Kyle's things. Amanda tells Taylor she knows it was her that told Kyle about Eric's proposition but Taylor insists lughead Kyle figured it out all on his own. Amanda may be blonde but she's not THAT blonde. She tells Taylor how much she enjoyed having Kyle around and how safe he made her feel but, fortunately for her, she took measures to feel safe before he arrived. With that, she pulls out a revolver from a kitchen drawer, cocks it, and points it at Taylor while explaining she got the gun to protect herself from "intruders". A shocked and frightened Taylor gets the message and leaves... quickly.

At Mr. Tux - no really, not even I could make up a shop name like that - Billy and Craig are getting fitted for their tuxedos and, given this is Billy's third wedding you'd think he'd OWN his own tux by now. Craig is in a funk, probably because he's having a really bad hair day, so Billy asks him what's up. Craig explains how he "blew it with Jennifer" by sleeping with the hotel chick and getting caught. He berates himself for "not being honest and telling Jen I'm not ready for a serious relationship" so either he or the writers are suffering from amnesia because he's been telling her since Day One to back off. Billy suggests Craig tell Jennifer all this and walks away leaving Craig to contemplate how to get his bangs to quit sticking straight up in the air.

Meanwhile, over on the other side of town, Jennifer is standing in what appears to be a slip while Sam is dancing around in her bridal dress. Jen tries to be happy for Sam but it doesn't last as she makes some comment about "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" and walks away. Connie walks up wearing an identical slip so I guess Sam spent so much money on her dress that her bridesmaids are being forced to wear matching underwear as bridesmaids dresses. Connie tells Sam how she's envious of Billy and it's quickly apparent the reason gay Matt left is because he's being replaced with lesbian Connie. She tells Sam, "If you're not sure, you could always..." What? Jump out the window like Alison? Sam tells Connie, "I've never been more sure of anything in my life." As the two women hug - patented Melrose Place symbolism for gay sex - Connie laments, "I'm going to miss what we had." What exactly did they have? Sam has been on this show almost 2 years and this is the first time we've heard or SEEN this girl!

At Peter's condo, Lexi is in the bathroom primping which involves applying lipstick first and then messing it up by drinking a glass of water while taking tranquilizers. Then again she's a junkie - I suppose I should be grateful she bathes regularly. Downstairs, Peter greets Michael at the door who has come by for dinner. Peter asks Michael how Megan is doing and is surprised to hear Michael doesn't know because Coop won't let Michael see her. Michael asks, "When you were in Med School did they teach you to treat a coma patient by holding hands with them?" Peter is disturbed to hear about Coop's behavior, especially when Michael adds how Coop "spent the night with her, brushes her hair, whispers in her ear and serenades her with music." "What's next, a moonlight sponge bath?" Michael asks just as Lexi enters the room and sighs, "I'll be damned - he's doing it again." Michael is clueless so Peter explains Coop is "falling in love with a coma patient again". Michael is still perplexed so Peter and Lexi tell Michael about Coop's obsession with Kimberly while she was in a coma back in Cleveland and how he wouldn't even let Mrs. Shaw in to visit, much like Coop won't let Michael see Megan now. Enraged, Michael goes to leave but Peter and Lexi stop him. First of all, they explain, Coop wants a fight and Michael can't give him that. Second, he can't just go storming in and removing Coop from Megan's case without a valid medical reason. "You're right," Michael muses, "I'll just hand my wife over to him - let him get off on her shallow breathing." Peter suggests Michael go through official channels and eventually Michael agrees as he decides to stay for dinner.

A blonde woman is climbing the stairs to Kyle's apartment and for a minute I didn't recognize it as Amanda given that I haven't seen her from the shoulders down all season. Then again it's a shot from the back so it could be a body double. Regardless, Amanda knocks on Kyle's door and softly asks if she can come in which Kyle quietly agrees to. Amanda tells Kyle she misses him and asks if they can "forget about Eric and start from here". She kisses him, he kisses her back, and just as it starts to get passionate Kyle pulls away and hisses, "Sex is the answer to everything for you!" With that he opens the front door and orders Amanda to leave but she insists on him fulfilling this "forgive and forget" fantasy of hers. "Like you've never made a mistake?" she asks, adding, "How many women in this building did you sleep with while you were still married to Taylor? I never hold that over your head." I may be wrong here but that doesn't sound to me like the proper way to NOT hold something over someone's head. "What we had is over," Kyle tells her so Amanda leaves and Kyle quickly slams the door behind her.

Jennifer stops Michael in the hospital hallway to ask a favor - she needs a date to the wedding and wants Michael to fix her up with a doctor. She even suggests it be his new partner! Either I'm psychic or this show is getting to be way too predictable. Michael tells her she's not Coop's type because she's conscious but promises to "scratch her name on the men's room wall" as he walks away to talk to another doctor. Michael stops Irene, the Chief Of Neurology and asks what she's going to do about Coop and Megan. When Irene suggests waiting to see what happens, Michael threatens her job by reminding her of her upcoming review. She sighs and agrees to "have a chat with Dr. Cooper".

It appears NOT having sex with Eric was just as productive for Amanda because her agency is up and running with old clients coming back in droves. Maybe seeing her naked, pregnant body was all Eric really wanted. Billy enters Amanda's office to share the good news about three clients (including Season Four's Midline Airways and Lindy Toys - remember those oldies but goodies?) re-signing with them and tells her that "whatever she did with Eric" must have worked. Amanda sighs and informs Billy that she didn't do anything. Billy may have the IQ of Spam but somehow he's keen enough to know something's wrong between Amanda and Kyle. "This is about Kyle, isn't it?" he asks so Amanda explains that Kyle "broke it off" because she did something stupid and now he doesn't trust her. She pauses and then hastily tells Billy she's "all talked out" as she instructs him to "close the door on his way out". Billy, not knowing how to show different emotions, rolls his eyes instead and leaves but not before Amanda tells him, "If you have any more good news, keep it to yourself."

Kyle is sitting at the bar having a drink in his empty jazz club which, as I understood it, now belongs to Eric. I guess Eric's given him an extra day or so to pack up as part of a "Thank You For Saving My Life And All" gift. Taylor walks up and asks if she can join him, to which he agrees, and as she pours herself a drink she complains about how she just applied for a hostess job at Pancake Palace followed by "life reeks". I wonder if that's the motto at Pancake Palace. She says perhaps LA "wasn't in the cards" for her and Kyle and suggests they go somewhere else and start over - even go back to Boston. "I blew it with Peter; you blew it with Amanda", she states but insists they belong together and her pregnancy was some kind of sign of that. Kyle looks at her as if she just dyed her hair green and tells her, "I have no interest in getting back together with you." As he walks away, Taylor mumbles to herself, "Give me some credit - I knew that" and if that's true then why the hell is she acting so desperate to get him back? She should give up and go find herself a nice trucker at Pancake Palace.

Sam and Billy come home from work when Billy tells Sam to go in and start a bath for them while he goes to talk to Kyle for a minute. At Kyle's, Billy tells him about Amanda's "weird" behavior lately stating, "I don't know what happened between you two" which Kyle confirms with a quick, "No, you don't." Billy, sensing he's not going to get any information out of Kyle, sticks his foot in his mouth by informing Kyle how Amanda's agency "bounced back" and forces his foot further down his throat as he excitedly adds, "whatever Amanda did worked!" Kyle thanks Billy for the information and Billy leaves.

Coop storms into Michael's office demanding to know why the Chief of Neurology is on his ass. Michael suggests, "If you have a problem with Dr. Schulman take it up with her" so Coop starts whining about how Megan is alone in ICU right now with no one to talk to her. Michael thinks this is a good thing and says, "she needs a rest from all your jabbering." Even though Michael is in a tux, Coop (another blonde) asks if he's on his way to see Megan so Michael informs him he's on his way to a dinner. Coop is outraged but Michael is unfazed and tells him Megan will wake up "when she's ready." Coop insists that kind of attitude could keep Megan in a coma for the rest of her life. "You'd really like that, wouldn't you?" Michael asks and starts in on Coop's obsession with "women with flatline EEGs". Coop insists it's no more than a doctor's compassion for life but Michael tells him, "History isn't repeating itself - the weirdness stops here" and if that's the case I don't suppose Megan will be adorned with wigs or zipperhead scars anytime soon. And I had such high hopes. Michael orders Coop, "stay away from my wife!" as he walks out of the office and as he closes the door behind him Coop comes at the door with a bizarre skip-kick that must be seen to be appreciated.

Amanda returns home from work and as she enters the courtyard Kyle approaches her and congratulates her on her agency "bouncing back". Amanda asks again what it is she has to do to get Kyle to believe her but Mr. Cranky Pants coldly replies the only thing he believes is that she'd do anything to save her agency. Amanda insists her agency, the jazz club and the apartment building mean nothing to her without Kyle because he's all that matters. "I love you," she tells him again and when Kyle doesn't respond Amanda tells him "goodnight" and goes to her apartment. Within seconds, Taylor runs out of her apartment wearing something that appears to be stolen from Jennifer's wardrobe and tells Kyle, "I couldn't help but overhear" - yeah, especially since you were standing right at your apartment door listening and watching the whole exchange. Taylor mocks Amanda's words and finishes by saying, "what a tramp!" Kyle leans in as if he's going to whisper something in her ear or - worse yet - KISS her but instead he pushes her in the pool. As Taylor's head bobs up from the water, Kyle crouches down and tells her, "You got off lucky, Taylor. I could have so easily gone in and held your head under water." Yes, Kyle, but remember - history can't repeat itself and we've already had one demon seed ex-wife die in that pool. With that he flicks a handful of water in her face and leaves.

Lexi joins Peter at the breakfast table for coffee and instantly starts jabbering about how she needs to get a job or find a charity or play golf with Peter or join an equestrian club and ship her horses out to LA or take up interior designing and redecorate Peter's condo. Peter notes her hyperness but is distracted by a knock on the door. It's the cleaner with Peter's suits and he needs $40. Peter is "tapped out" so he asks if Lexi has any cash. She says she does in her purse but just as he's about to open it she grabs it first, gets the money and hands it to him. He senses she doesn't trust him but she tells him, "don't be silly - I'm just trying to be helpful."

It's late at night and a man is moving through the darkened hallways of Amanda Woodward Advertising. It turns out to be Eric who walks into Amanda's office causing her to immediately pick up the phone and call Security. Eric begs her not to and explains he's not there to hurt her or cause her anymore trouble but, instead, wants to give her an explanation and an apology. As Amanda hangs up the phone, Eric tells her he shouldn't have tried to force her into bed and pleads "temporary insanity". Eric then informs Amanda that he's giving Kyle back his restaurant and jazz club and Amanda her agency, all with no strings attached. Amanda asks if he's the one who called all her clients and got them to re-sign with her so he sheepishly explains, "You can't have an agency without clients." He says he's going back to New York the following day and will have the papers sent to her before then. Standing, Eric quietly says, "I'm sorry - about everything" and leaves.

Coop sneaks into Megan's room in ICU and tells her how he's wanted to come see her. He turns on some music and, taking her hand, tells her he's "the only one who understands". She squeezes his hand so a startled Coop turns to look at the readings on the machines but before he can read them Michael and 2 security thugs barge in. Michael angrily reprimands Coop for being there and has Security cart him off despite his insistance that Megan squeezed his hand. Alone with Megan, Michael looks at the readings just as Megan starts to wake up. She's understandably confused so Michael explains she's been in a coma for the past few days. Megan tells Michael she remembers music and someone holding her hand and talking to her so Michael tells her, "that was me." He lies that he was there the whole time and tells her this will be the "best Thanksgiving ever". Looking to the ceiling Michael says, "Thank you, God", and then leans over and kisses Megan.

Samantha, Connie and Jennifer are getting ready for the wedding when Mrs. Campbell approaches Sam and asks her to wear her brooch. She explains that Billy's dead father gave it to her on their wedding day and both she and Billy would be honored if Sam would wear it. The brooch is big, blue and hideous but Sam, unlike anyone else on this show, has some manners and tells Mrs. Campbell she thinks the brooch will clash with her mother's necklace which she's already wearing. Sam is also a very bad liar. Hurt, Mrs. Campbell takes the brooch back and apologizes for trying to impose her outdated fashion sense on Sam but notes how "Alison loved this brooch". Funny... I don't remember seeing that ugly thing on either Alison's OR Brooke's wedding dresses. Hearing Alison's name on her wedding day does not make Sam a happy camper so she tells Mrs. Campbell, "I'm really sorry your son isn't marrying Alison Parker." Mrs. Campbell does the martyr routine and says, "I know where I'm not wanted" as she dramatically exits the room. Outside, Billy sees her crying and asks what's wrong. Handing him the brooch Billy's mom suggests he "ask the future Mrs. Campbell". Billy knocks on Sam's door and enters, despite the fact the groom isn't supposed to see the bride the day of the wedding before the ceremony. Then again, Billy followed those guidelines the previous 2 trips to the altar and you see where that got him - maybe this will guarantee he and Sam a happy and long life together. Billy confronts Sam about the brooch and tells her it meant a lot to his mother and she should have said yes. Connie interferes and tells Billy he cares more about his mother than Sam and, turning to Samantha, asks, "Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life with him?" Billy suggests Connie butt out, which Jennifer seconds, but Connie boldly states, "I'll defend her 'til the end of time" (who writes this stuff?) and suggests if it means that much to Billy that HE wear the stupid brooch. My, my... such trauma over a piece of costume jewelry. Craig appears in the doorway and tells Billy it's "showtime" so Billy grumbles, "Let's get this thing over with - I'll see you at the altar" and walks out. Connie insists that Sam "doesn't have to go through with this" but Jennifer - the only rational person in this entire scene (which is frightening in and of itself) says, "Yes she does." Putting the veil on Sam's head Jen demands, "Get dressed and get married!"

Outside, Craig escorts Amanda to her seat which turns out to be between Kyle and Peter who is sitting next to Lexi. She lasts for all of about 3 seconds before standing to leave but Kyle grabs her hand and forces her back in her seat. Continuing to hold her hand, Kyle smiles and says, "It's a nice day for a wedding, isn't it?" Amanda smiles back and this is just entirely too much happiness for Melrose Place so Eric shows up to ruin it. Implying that he slept with Amanda, he hands her the papers giving Kyle back his restaurant and bar. He then whispers into Kyle's ear, "For the record, I did sleep with her and she enjoyed every minute of it." Jennifer, Connie and Samantha start walking down the aisle so Eric quips, "Amanda, it's been a pleasure doing business with you" and walks up the aisle, careful to cut in front of each of the bridesmaids as he goes. Sensing Kyle's mood change Amanda tells him, "Whatever he said it's a lie" so Kyle asks, "Then why did he sign the papers?" Amanda has no answer so Kyle sighs, "I'm such an idiot" and walks up the same aisle intercepting the same bridesmaids, this time causing Jen to drop her bouquet. Outside, Kyle punches Eric in the face and then slams the limo driver against the car and instructs him to drop Eric off at the airport with the baggage. Amanda runs out of the building and yells that Kyle is "ruining everything". Kyle tells Amanda he hopes she and Eric are happy together as he goes back into the building, leaving Amanda to tend to a bleeding Eric.

At the reception, the same Herb Alpert tune that Sam listened to in her car last week is playing as she and Billy sit at their table looking anything but blissful. Craig reminds them they're supposed to dance the first dance but neither one of them is in the mood to dance. Maybe if Craig put up a boxing ring and gave each of them a pair of gloves he'd stand a better chance of getting them out on the floor. Billy decides dancing might not be so bad after all and escorts his bride to the dance floor but it's not long before he's picking a fight and telling her she owes his mother an apology. Sam replies, "I'm not sure I should be the one" and walks away.

Later at the reception, the music has picked up and Lexi - who is wearing some inappropriate red lace and black satin dress - is doing her impression of "Dirty Dancing" on Peter's leg. Peter goes to the bar to get a drink so Lexi crosses the dance floor and grabs some unknown guy by the tie and continues her dancing with him. From the bar, Peter watches her when Coop walks up and sarcastically makes some comment about "Pete's positive influence" on her. Peter proudly states he's helped turn Lexi's life around but Coop warns that she's "susceptible to other influences".

Michael is wheeling Megan through the hospital in her wheelchair and telling her what a great Thanksgiving they're going to have. Megan is still unsure about moving back in to the beach house but Michael insists she be there so he can take care of her. Just as they get on the elevator, Coop runs up to the nurses station and asks the Mary Poppins nurse where Megan is. The nurse informs him that Michael discharged her to his care and Coop just missed them leaving. A distraught Coop looks down the hallway toward the elevator wondering if he'll ever hear that Joni Mitchell CD again.

Back at the reception, Craig is watching Jennifer sleezily hang on (i.e. dance) with some guy - probably the same guy that Lexi got all hot and bothered a short time ago. Seeing Connie standing alone across the room, Craig approaches her and informs her, "It's the duty of the Maid of Honor to dance with the Best Man" and if that's so then I've got a bone to pick with the Best Men of weddings I've been the Maid Of Honor in. Connie turns him down by telling him, "you're not my type."

Meanwhile, Sam sits down at the table with Mrs. Campbell in an attempt to straighten out their misunderstanding. Before Sam can say anything, however, a drunk Mrs. Campbell motions to Billy out on the dance floor with some unknown girl and warns Sam, "you better keep an eye on him." She continues how Sam isn't the first love of Billy's life nor will she be the last. With that she hands a glass of champagne to Sam and offers a toast: "To my current daughter in law - may her marriage to my son last longer than his first." She then asks, "Or am I not allowed to mention Brooke either?" Cackling, the old bat finishes by telling Sam, "Don't wear high heels around the pool!" Devastated, Sam runs out of the room crying. Witness to this entire scene is Miss Devoted For Life Connie who approaches Billy and tells him, "Now that you're married to Sam I thought you should know - (that you're in love with her?) - she's crying." Billy excuses himself and goes out after Sam who is sitting on a bench sobbing. Sitting next to her, Billy apologizes for being the doofus he is, especially on their wedding day. Sam cries that his mother hates her and tells him how all she talks about are his former girlfriends, fiancees and his dead wife. She asks Billy if he's sorry he married her and he replies the only thing he's sorry about is that he didn't ask her to marry him the day they met because "he knew then that she was the one." He tells her he loves her, she tells him she loves him, they kiss and, thankfully, this scene is over.

Back at home, Lexi is acting a bit intoxicated herself as she molests Peter in the kitchen. He notes she only had one glass of champagne and wonders what's gotten into her so she tells him, "I'm high on you." Again, I must ask, who writes this stuff? Lexi takes the car keys to get something out of the car so Peter takes the opportunity to rummage through her purse and see what her big secret is. Finding her tranquilizers, he holds up the bottle and is shocked to see the prescribing doctor is Coop.

Kyle comes stumbling in to the courtyard headed for his apartment but he only gets up a couple stairs before pausing to look up at Amanda's apartment. In behavior reminiscent of Jake, he picks up a HUGE potted plant and hurls it againt the wall just to the right of Taylor's door. For all the eaesdropping that woman does it's amazing Taylor doesn't come running out this time. Kyle must sense this as he walks over to her apartment and knocks on her door - with his HEAD. She answers and exasperatedly asks what he wants. Kyle replies, "I want what you've wanted for months", kisses her and starts to undress her as they collapse on the sofa. So much for history not repeating itself.
