Some Defining Moments of
MELROSE PLACE

MELROSE PLACE, which airs Mondays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), is a kaleidoscope of human emotions and motivations amid the challenges of living in the '90s.

Over the years there have been many defining moments in the series that have propelled story lines and created havoc and harmony in the lives of the characters. The following is a look back at a few of those moments since the series debut July 8, 1992:

Season 1 - 1992-93

Pilot. Established the physical layout of the apartment complex and set up relationships and situations that helped drive the series. Introduced the cast of characters, including Billy Campbell (Andrew Shue) and Alison Parker (Courtney Thorne-Smith) who became roommates, then lovers, and the ill-fated married couple Dr. Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro) and his wife Jane (Josie Bissett).

"Picture Imperfect. Introduced Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear) as a commanding and cunning advertising executive. She not only created heartache at D&D, she also awakened the desires and ires of the residents of Melrose Place.

"A Promise Broken. Introduced Kimberly Shaw (Marcia Cross) as a seductive co-worker of Michael Mancini and the cause of tumult in Michael and Jane's marriage.

"Pushing Boundaries. Kimberly and Michael Mancini's love affair ignited.

"Single White Sisters. Introduced Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton) as Jane's deceitful, selfish younger sister.

Season 2 - 1993-94

"Flirting With Disaster. Sydney slept with Michael, her brother in-law, which set off massive misery.

"The Bitch Is Back. Kimberly returned to the beach house and removed her wig to reveal the scar from the auto accident in which the audience was led to believe that she was dead. Amanda's mother (Linda Gray) made her first appearance and ran a modeling agency called Model's Inc.

"Reunion Blues. Jo Reynolds (Daphne Zuniga) met Reed (James Wilder), an old boyfriend, at a high school reunion. She took him home to live with her, unaware he ran drugs for a living, and soon was pregnant.

"No Bed Of Roses. Jake (Grant Show) and Amanda began a love affair that grew into a love/hate affair.

"Till Death Do Us Part. Moments before Alison was to be married, she realized that she had been a victim of childhood sexual abuse when her father attempted to comfort her with the words, "Don't cry, pumpkin, which triggered the long-buried horrifying memories.

Season 3 - 1994

"It's A Bad World After All. Re-introduced Dr. Peter Burns (Jack Wagner) who had appeared briefly on the show the previous year. He became a catalyst of conflict in the hospital and at Melrose Place. Billy joined D & D Advertising as an account executive, which set the stage for more conflict between him, Alison and Amanda.

"And The Winner Is. Introduced the seemingly innocent Brooke Armstrong (Kristen Davis) as Billy's new love interest, who turns out to be a conniving manipulator.

"The Doctor That Rocks The Cradle. In a supreme act of premeditation, Kimberly delivered and then stole Jo's baby.

"Just Say No. Amanda was promoted to head D&D Advertising after her boss hung himself as a result of a political squeeze play she engineered.

"The Big Bang Theory. Introduced the wicked Richard Hart (Patrick Muldoon), who became involved with Jane's design company and turned into her worst nightmare. Kimberly, possessed by her devils, rigged Melrose Place with explosives.

Season 4 - 1995-96

"No Life Guard on Duty. Brooke is drowned when she drunkenly stumbles into the Melrose Place pool.

"Two Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. In an irony of ironies, Kimberly became a psychiatrist and counseled the mentally tortured and unstable Sydney.

"Oy! To The World. Sydney temporarily paralyzed Jane by spiking her drink at a Christmas party.

"Peter's Excellent Adventure. Peter was saved from a lobotomy by Michael and Amanda, who rushed into the operating room and wheeled him out in the nick of time.

Season 5 - 1996-97 So Far

"Living With Disaster. Introduced the new residents of Melrose Place the innocent Samantha Reilly (Brooke Langton), a struggling artist who shares an apartment with Jane Mancini; and Kyle McBride (Rob Estes) and Taylor McBride (Lisa Rinna), restaurateurs who hold secrets from Peter's past which could jeopardize his new marriage to Amanda.

"Un-Janed Melody. Introduced Craig Field (David Charvet), the son of a wealthy and powerful Los Angeles businessman, who goes head-to-head with Amanda for control of D&D Advertising. This episode also introduced Dr. Dan Hathaway (Greg Evigan), a doctor and ex-drug addict who has a romantic interest in Matt. And Megan Lewis (Kelly Rutherford) made her debut as a mysterious seductress whom Michael met on the beach.

"Escape From LA. Jane left Melrose Place after finding her biological mother, played by Donna Mills, but ultimately returned to Chicago with her adoptive parents.
